Thanksgiving day
I' m very thankful for having Tom and Tracy as our assistans. They help us a lot and are always willing to organise challenging activities for us. We celebrated Thanksgiving day yesterday and they organised a really cool activity: we made these cute turkeys using our hands and our feet. Hope you like the photos.
Have a good weekend.

Let' s make a globe!
As a project for science and arts, we decided to make a globe with a balloon, so that we could learn to recognise the shapes of the continents. The process was more complicated tgan it seems. I blew up the balloons and the children glued pieces of paper to them. When they were completely dry, we painted the balloons with blue paint. Meanwhile, we coloured the continents on a piece of paper and cut them out. When the paint was completely dry, we glued the continents to the globe with the help of our map projected onto the white board. Tom and Tracy helped us to spot and place the continents.
The results are good, but I have to admit that we had a little problem with some of the balloons, since we left them next to the heater, and the next day a few of them were flat and completely useless. Nevertheless, we had lots of fun during the whole process, and we tried to make the concepts related to the Earth a bit easier.

Finding countries
As I wrote in a previous post, we have been studying some countries in Social Science, paying special attention to their shapes, their sizes and their capital cities.
Here we have some photographs of the children in our small competition. They had to locate the countries in the globe, stick a piece of plasticine on the spots and show them to Tom. We had lots of fun and Tom, the referee, helped us a lot, checking all the answers.
Thanks a lot for lending us the globes you brought to the classroom.

World map
I forgot to tell class 2A that we are going to have a test next Monday -I will tell them tomorrow anyway-. With the currently law, children in year 2 have to get some basic notions about Geography, in terms of the world, Europe and our own country. This time I post a map that someone brought to the classroom and I spot the 8 countries that we need to locate in a world map: Canada, United States (U.S.A.), Brazil, United Kingdom, Spain, Russia, China and Australia.
Good luck!

The borders of Spain
As you probably know, we are studying some basic concepts about Geography in Social Sciences. Apart from working on both Hemispheres and the Equator on the world map, we are paying particular attention to the map of Spain. Last week, we did an activity related to this and the results were slightly messy. So I decided to post my own map in order to clear things up so that you can figure out what we are studying and exactly what I want the children to know: Spain and its borders, Portugal in the west and France in the North East; the Mediterranean Sea in the East, the Bay of Biscay in the North and the Atlantic Ocean in the North and South West.

Animal research centre
Before we finished our unit about animals in Science, last weekend I asked the students to research some facts about various animals. I gave them a picture of the animal they had to look up and I told them "Let's see who takes this activity seriously". So the students had to ask for help in order to find some other photos and complete the relevant information related to the animal they had been given (where it lives, what it eats, how it has babies and its appearance). I was very impressed by many of the projects, they were simply incredible! Below I have attached some of the nicest ones. I hope you like them and appreciate them as much as I did!
